Whatever pets you might have, be it dogs, cats, or any household birds, Hawaiian Airlines allows you to travel with them as conveniently as possible. Although, there are certain restrictions and conditions that apply which the passenger should be aware of before they fly with their furry friend.

Here’s what you need to know.

Talking about traveling with your pet in the passenger cabin, this is only allowed for flights between the State of Hawaii and North America (except flights to/from JFK, BOS, MCO, or AUS) and inter-island flights. Any animals apart from cats and dogs are not allowed to travel in the passenger cabin. It is important to note that your pet has to be inside an approved carrier and the carrier should be able to fit under the seat in front of the passenger.

Reservation for the pet to travel in the passenger cabin has to be done at the same time as you do your own flight booking.

When it comes to pets traveling as check-in baggage, the maximum limit for the combined weight of the pet and kennel should not be over 70 lbs (slightly under 32 kg). In case this limit is exceeded, your pet will have to be transported through Hawaiian Airlines’ cargo department.

You will have to book your pet under checked-in baggage at the time of your flight booking. The pet will be loaded in the baggage compartment of your flight.

Requirements for the pet carrier:
The maximum weight limit for the pet and the carrier combined is 25 pounds.
The carrier should be leak-proof and soft-sided.
The maximum dimensions allowed for the carrier are Length 16 in. X Width 10 in. X Height 9.5 in.
The animal will be required to stay inside the carrier onboard the aircraft and in the terminal.
The animal should be able to stand upright, sit, turn and lay down freely inside the carrier.
