Delta Airlines Cancellation Policy

Before the whole Covid-19 situation plagued the world, Delta Airlines used to charge a decent amount for the cancellation of a flight ticket. But keeping the situation of the pandemic in mind and with the aim to provide more flexibility to the passengers, the airline has subsequently waived off all the cancellation charges.

In accordance with the Delta Airlines Cancellation Policy, there will not be any cancellation fee applied regardless of the type of ticket you have bought (Refundable Ticket or Non-Refundable Ticket). If you have purchased a refundable ticket, you can either get the amount refunded to you or you can choose to use it as a future credit.

If the ticket purchased is a non-refundable ticket then the amount will not be refunded back to the passenger but instead it will be provided in the form of e-credit which can be used to make any future bookings.

If the customer has booked an Award Travel Ticket through Miles, the booking can be canceled up to 72 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure. There is a flight cancellation fee of $150 applied on the cancellation of an Award Travel Ticket. If the customer fails to cancel the booking within 72 hours then it will be treated as a non-refundable ticket.

You can cancel your flight ticket and successfully receive a refund by following the below-listed steps:

Open your web browser and visit the official website of Delta Airlines (https://www.delta.com/).

After navigating through the ‘Find Trip’ section, visit ‘My Trips’.

Fill in the necessary details.

Select the flight you wish to make the cancellation for.

You will be shown the ‘Modify Flight’ option, click on it.

Now you have to click on ‘Start Flight Cancellation’.

If your ticket is refundable, you will be shown the Refund option. Click on it and you will be directed to the refund policy page.

After going through the refund policy information you can click on ‘Apply’.

The refunded amount will show up in your account in around 5 to 6 business days.

If you want to change your flight instead of canceling it then it is worth your time to go through the flight change policy of Delta as well.
